Immaculata’s academic advisors and academic coaches will assist you as you navigate your university experience and work toward your goals.
Academic Advising
Academic advisors are here to assist you at all points along your collegiate journey by providing general academic advice, guidance and coaching, regardless of your class year or major. If you are in the process of exploring options for a major, transitioning between majors, or choosing a minor to enhance your degree, advisors will assist you in finding the program that matches your personality, skills, and talents. Academic advisors work one-on-one with you as you explore options. Advisors will also help you decide on an academic course plan that will enable you to enroll in classes that interest you while satisfying liberal arts core requirements, which helps keep you on track to graduation.
Academic Coaching
Academic coaches will meet with you individually or in a group to help you understand and practice individualized learning tactics. You can receive guidance in several areas, including:
- Setting and achieving goals
- Developing study habits
- Note-taking strategies
- Organizational skills
- Test-taking strategies
- Time management
Academic coaching is a free service that allows you to meet with a coach on a weekly, bi-weekly or monthly basis to ensure you stay on track with your studies.
Disability Services
In compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, amended in 2008 (ADA) as well as Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, Immaculata University is committed to providing reasonable academic accommodations to students with disabilities who are seeking accommodations. If you have a learning, physical or psychological disability, you may submit the appropriate documentation of the disability and meet with the director of disability services in order to formulate an appropriate accommodations plan. The documentation must be current—generally within the last three years—and include recommendations for needed accommodations.
Visit the Disability Services section to learn more about the accommodations request process and view the Accommodations Handbook.
Contact Jennifer Peruso, the director of disability services, prior to the beginning of your first semester to begin the approval process for academic accommodations.

First@IU Mentoring
Are you one of the first in your family to attend college? Then congratulations on a great achievement! We know college is challenging—and we know those challenges can sometimes be more difficult for first-generation students—so we’ve launched First@IU, a unique program dedicated to helping students succeed as they progress on their academic journeys.
First@IU helps you connect with other first-generation students, build a strong and collaborative network and meet mentors made up of faculty and staff from various backgrounds who were first-generation students themselves. You’ll find people who can relate to what you’re feeling and experiencing, explain the support services available to you, and cheer you on as you work toward your degree. What’s more, you’ll learn about resources to help you pay for college, build skills for academic success, feel more encouraged and empowered, and plan for your career!

First Year Experience Program
In addition to classroom discussions, you will participate in large group activities that will enhance your understanding of Immaculata’s mission and values.
Peer Tutoring
As a support to in-class instruction, peer tutoring can help you better understand your course material. Tutoring services are free and are tailored to meet your individual needs. In addition, group tutoring sessions are available for a variety of academic disciplines.
The tutoring coordinator matches you with a peer tutor who has successfully completed coursework in your area of need. All tutors have earned at least an A– in the course, have recommendations from faculty members, and have been trained on how best to assist fellow classmates.
